Bit of a recce job as running T15 event from Hythe on the Sunday, so
deceided to scope the place out. Scored it with sunshine and wind, though
it was gusty and the sea was a choppy mess of a playground ..... Camber
would have been class, Hythe sadly wasn't .... however, Hythe was where I
was so time to go sailing.
Grumpf rocked up tho was on kid-sitting duties so had a limited window off
opportunity, so I sent him out on my 3S97 & Remedy 6.4m for a trial run
..... the APDS (Alien Pilot Detection System) kicked in instantly and
bucked the unsuspecting rider into the shorebreak .... once he'd taken
control he was off, and to be fair the conditions weren't suiting the
board's best attributes as I'd not enjoyed my earlier session that much.
Sure enough, returning to shore, there was no gybing and heading back out
for another run .... not one for Graeme then.
To return the compliment, Graeme disappeared off to his truck and came back
with his Exocet Cross 94 and insisted I took it for a spin .... being a bit
smaller / narrower / lower volume it suited the sea state better, and
surprisingly it carried the 6.4m okay. I was pleasantly surprised by the
performance and willingness to get airbourne. For a bump and jump blaster
it's a really good option, though as for surfing feel I can't comment as
conditions were not conducive.
Fun day, dressed up as a pre-event recce too ....
